Few premium automotive brands have as varied a lineup as Lexus does. Instead of offering one entry-level luxury sedan, Lexus offers two. For buyers who put the highest priority on comfort and luxury, there is the midsize, front-wheel-drive Lexus ES 350 sedan, while those desiring a harder-edged sport sedan can go with the company's compact, rear-drive IS series.

Today's Lexus ES 350 is the latest version of the company's long-running ES series. Like its predecessors, it's roomy, quiet, comfortable and assembled with care. Lexus offers plenty of standard and optional upscale amenities for the ES 350, but adding a few of the option packages can quickly drive up the price. However, for consumers seeking the utmost in refinement and relaxation in their next entry-level luxury car, the Lexus ES 350 is certain to have just as much appeal as every ES sedan before it.

Current Lexus ES 350
Debuting as a 2013 model, the current-generation Lexus ES 350 maintains its familiar and successful formula. That means it's a well-crafted, well-equipped luxury sedan that puts more emphasis on quiet, comfortable motoring than it does on athletic handling. Styling is evolutionary and handsome, while the cabin boasts a modern and interesting aesthetic.

For power the ES 350 relies on a 3.5-liter V6 that makes 268 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. As before, the transmission is a six-speed automatic transmission and all ES 350s have front-wheel drive.

Standard feature highlights include 17-inch wheels, xenon headlamps, a sunroof, keyless ignition and entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, eight-way power front seats, premium vinyl upholstery, Bluetooth phone connectivity and an eight-speaker sound system with a six-CD changer, satellite radio and an iPod/USB audio interface. Options include a panoramic sunroof, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, leather upholstery, real wood trim, a rearview camera, a navigation system (includes the Lexus Enform suite of Internet-based apps), a Siri-based control system for iPhone users, a Mark Levinson audio system, heated and ventilated seats and a power rear sunshade. If certain options are ordered, the ES 350 also features Lexus' mouselike Remote Touch multifunction controller.

In reviews, we have found that the latest ES 350 delivers a refined driving experience that's bolstered by the smooth and energetic V6 engine. Handling is more buttoned-down than before, which we appreciate. Still, this is no sport sedan. The ES continues to provide a very quiet drive that's ideal for consumers ranging from harried commuters to families who enjoy frequent road trips. All told, Lexus has updated and thus increased the appeal of its popular entry-level luxury sedan without abandoning its core character that has endeared it to its massive, often repeat-business customer base.

Used Lexus ES 350 Models
Current-generation ES 350s debuted in 2013. Minor additions for the 2014 models include xenon headlights and the Siri Eyes Free iPhone control system. The base premium vinyl seats with ventilation and bamboo interior trim were also made available.

Produced from 2007 through 2012, the previous-generation Lexus ES 350 didn't change much, making low-mileage, well-kept examples top used car choices. This generation shared its basic underpinnings and mechanicals with the 2007-'11 Toyota Camry. Of course, the ES 350 had different exterior and interior styling as well as more luxury features. Power was provided by a 3.5-liter V6 that generated 268 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque and put its power to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.

Standard equipment included a sunroof, keyless ignition/entry, power front seats, leather upholstery, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control and lovely wood trim. In our reviews, our editors found this entry-level luxury sedan pleasant to drive. The V6 engine was smooth, and if you're not particularly interested in sporty dynamics, the ES 350's isolated and soft ride will be to your liking. Inside, materials quality and the overall level of opulence are impressive for this segment. For buyers seeking an affordable used luxury sedan, the ES 350 makes a great choice.

The previous generation of the ES, which ran from 2004-'06, was known as the ES 330, while 2002 and '03 models were sold under the ES 300 name. Although they weren't as powerful as the ES 350, the 300 and 330 are fine choices for a used entry-level luxury sedan, thanks to their capable performance, serene cruising demeanor and high-quality cabin treatments. For any ES, reliability is typically well above average.

  Lots of rattle - 2007 Lexus ES 350

  Bought the ES 2 weeks ago. Today was the 3rd time it went back to dealer. Lots of rattles from front passenger door, front deck (stereo area), rear deck (seat belt). I was driving their loaner ES 350. That car has nearly same rattles as mine. Rattling is the problem you cant find during test drive. After you take the car, if theres a rattle you need to locate a more precise spot so that it may be easier for their technicians to find and fix. Really doubt about Lexuss quality. Others than rattling, I enjoy my ES very much. Fast and comfortable.

  Built for comfort AND speed - 2008 Lexus ES 350

  This is my second Lexus; traded in my 2001 ES 300, which I also loved. But this is a totally different car; plush, powerful, yet still quiet and reliable. Im impressed with the fit and finish of the dash and controls, and love the Bluetooth compatibility. This may just be my all-time favorite car (except for the 66 MGB that drove me to the poorhouse when I was young). Plenty of power, yet smooth as silk.

  Sticky catalytic converter - 2008 Lexus ES 350

  Leased this car new. Has a good ride, not as quiet inside as I would have expected, dealership says its the wind shear from the side mirrors! When I have to accelerate a bit hard, the catalytic converter smells really bad. I had this problem with my 2005 es300 too. Does anybody else experience this? Also the drivers side seat belt buckle digs into the back of the seat and marks up the leather when you get in the car. The heated seats dont get very warm as other cars I have drove with this feature. The bluetooth does not always work properly. The front tires wore out at 10K and I did have them rotated by the dealer. The paint scratches very easily. Major torque pull could have accident.

  Purchased ES 350 9/06 - 2007 Lexus ES 350

  After owning an Acura 3.0 CL for the past 10 years, this car is an obvious improvement. I drove the BMW 3 and 5 series and Mercedes and I feel the Lexus is a better ride with superior interior features. Car rides very smooth and is overall quiet. I am very picky with interior noise and upon quick acceleration, the dash creaks, but not enough to warrant huge concern. Quality of the interior with the navigation system is unbelievably cool. Pretty easy to operate and the chick voice on the navigation system is not nearly as annoying as a wife giving you driving instructions. It is much more accurate than I believed it would be. It is fun to drive and all controls are within reach.

  Ive never been so excited about owning a new car but this car is just AWESOME. Its very comfortable, it has great interior features, and it looks much better than the old ES. The navigation system is just fantastic. Im very satisfied with this purchase.

  Great Car - 2010 Lexus ES 350

  I just traded in my 07 ES for the ES 2010 and I have to admit it is much better the the 07. The new chrome on the bottom door panal really changes the look of the car. This car is "SILKY SMOOTH" and has great power. I am 65" and 250 pounds and I am very comfortable behind the wheel or in the passengers seat! Needless to say I am very pleased I got the 2010 model and I have no regrets. The Nav. system and casual speech is wonderful! Just say Im to hot and it lowers the temperature 4 degrees. Wow, oops I meant to say WOW! I have received more compliments on this car than any car I have ever owned.

  Wonderful Entry-Level Luxury Car - 2007 Lexus ES 350

  My second Lexus, also own an 02 RX 300 which is still a great vehicle. Wanted something with more creature comforts and have been extremely pleased. While I also get the clicking engine noise from cold start-up, this goes away after warming up. Service says its the variable valve system. Every aspect of the driving experience is splendid and comfortable, altogether luxurious in most ways. Despite other reviewers, I find the car to be very responsive and powerful. Gas mileage is far better than expected, though I have had to stick to Premium fuel as recommended. Roomy for both front & back seat passengers. I would buy this car all over again if I had to.

  1st time buyer - 2009 Lexus ES 350

  This is the first Lexus I have owned and couldnt be happier. I only drove about 800 miles, but there isnt anything I seriously dislike about the vehicle. All of the necessary features are great and the ride is beautiful. I tend to be a leadfoot and this car has not let me down, although the handling is a little light. I test drove 14 different cars, seriously researched 26, and have always bought American previously. The price was great, $8,000-$10,000 below domestic competitors in its class with similar features. Needless to say, this was a big consideration when purchasing. The dealership was A+. Give it a try-youll fall in love!!

  What a disappointment - 2010 Lexus ES 350

  Since Aug 10 I have owned 2 ES350s. First one totaled in a flood after 3 weeks of purchase. Drove well. I was very happy. I replaced it with another one. The cabin shook violently since day one. I drove other demo ES350s. All had steering vibrations, one worse than the other. After taking the car back to the dealer 3 times, they finally found out that my brand new car had fix-a-flat in all 4 tires. With new tires steering doesnt shake, but the cabin still vibrates. All demos and loaners I drove have a cabin vibration at all speeds. Bad engineering flaw! I am extremely disappointed. Lexus was known to have the best drive!

  People say, "never day never." Well, I truly believe that I will never drive another car other than a Lexus. I owned an 2002 Audi A6 2.7T from new to 70k, I had to take it to the dealer every month... Now, I have the 2008 Lexus ES 350 and this car is simply amazingly reliable and fun ride! The back of the car needs a more contemporary look, but, overall it gets a 10!
